Why A Warning About Etsy
Many people shop on Etsy expecting to find handcrafted items.They present themselves as a place to sell all things handmade. They are very particular about what they allow shown on their home page. But behind the scenes more and more shops are set up to sell so called fine art photographs which to some shoppers look more like homemade pornography. If Etsy wants the reputation of selling fine art then they need to address this trend and clean up their site. This shopper signed up and posted a link to this blog on their forums.The link was posted without comentary ,What happened ? The post was locked,and the forum comentators made some excellent points. It was then that I changed my mind about the narrow way I had been viewing ,fine art images. They aren't filthy at all. I even adopted one seller's drawing of a butthole for my icon!
